Hugh Hewitt has been the catalyst, the blogs are swarming, and in less than a New York minute, new single-issue blogs like Easongate are arising from competent bloggers to push forward the issue of alleged comments from CNN's Eason Jordan in Davos of the US military killing 12 journalists intentionally. Netcentric warfare at its best, and is the mainstream media ready for it? Already Easongate, run by Matthew of Blackfive, Bill Roggio of The Fourth Rail, Brian Scott of the The Blue State Conservatives, Josh "Chester" Manchester of The Adventures of Chester and Charles Goggin of gogblog has over 6,000 hits in less than one day. (Go check it now and do the math on how fast it is growing). Glenn Reynold's thinks the formation of Easongate is a "big deal". I agree.
With all of this in mind, I think it is important for us all who value integrity in leadership, clarity of thought in what we say and do, and believe getting to the truth matters, should write letters to CNN.
I also would like to encourage Easongate to compile these letters and post them. It will be a powerful message.
Below is my message to CNN that I have sent via their website:
I am very troubled by what I have read from sources that I deem reliable on the Internet regarding Mr. Eason Jordan's comments in Davos about the US military targeting journalists. These are very grave and important charges. I understand from your post on my website (http://DawnsEarlyLight.blogs.com) that CNN states these comments were taken out of context and mis-characterized. This may well be, but why doesn't CNN release the transcripts of what Mr. Eason's comments were, or better yet, the video?
Until CNN makes a full accounting of a statement it is well qualified to report on, I have to assume the failure to do so by releasing the tape, gives credence to those making the charge that Mr. Jordan's comments were reckless against the men and women serving in Iraq.
This "controversy" will not go away until the truth is revealed. CNN, I hope, is interested in reporting the truth. Please release the video and transcripts of Mr. Eason Jordan's comments so the record can be set straight, and your audience can decide for themselves the validity of the charges.
Sincerely,
Bill (Dawn's Early Light - http://dawnsearlylight.blogs.com)
