« Syria Sets a Deadline for Pullout from Lebanon | Main | The Pat Down...The Adventure Continues »

Of all people, this is happening to you. I guess you just need to pull one of those TSA types and ask him to _read_ what you've written.

Derek Simmons

I'll bet that it turns out that you are "listed" not because of WHAT you wrote, but rather THAT you wrote, having the temerity to have broadcast opinions on stuff of national importance.

It must be that radical Christian fundamentalist in you, I'm jealous.

I hope you are able to wade through the red tape and get this cleared. I know you travel often, and don't need this aditional headache.
I would be interested to know what created a flag for the TSA. If it truely is related tio having an opinon and vouicing it publicly, then I am concerned that the government may not be practicing the freedom that it is preaching.

The problem is Soundex. It was first developed for the 1890 census. Decades ago, because airline and travel agent secretaries were terrible typist, it was adopted for that system. If a name is typed in, that name is automatically matched with every name that "sounds like" the name. Adding to the fun, the "sounds like" criterea was made for names common in America in 1890.

http://resources.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/soundexconverter is a good online convertor, but Soundex conversions can be done by hand too (http://genealogy.about.com/cs/census/ht/soundex_codes.htm). Adding to the fun, in Soundex you can add vowels whereever you want!

"William Roggio" may be OK to fly, but is the infamous mujahid Whalleen Rowzi?

Government foolishness, recklessness and incompetency in the field of intelligence on display for the world to see. Leap before you look.

I'll bet you get excited saying that you're "on a watchlist". You crazy freethinker. But it was probably random, one time selection, dude.

Actually, I get screened quit a bit. I cannot do the quick check in on the Southwest kiosk's like most travellers. The Southwest ticket agent told me that I "was on a watchlist"

Maybe I am not. However, there seems more information to support that I am being selected than not being selected.

That is why I have a call into the TSA. So far, no response.
